According to an old Lambert legend, atop the roof of the building lies a swimming pool.

“Early on, I remember that popping up, people saying that when they were building the school [Lambert] and everything, that they were gonna try to build a pool over here” Athletic Director Drew Ferrer said.

Lambert, from the time of inception, was always going to be a swim school. According to Director Ferrer, the surrounding neighborhoods and their summer swim teams gave administrators anticipation that Lambert could garner a sizable team.

The prospect of a pool on the roof, while admittedly completely unrealistic, has been a point of intrigue that dates back to before the school opened, with the rumor originating from South Forsyth High School, in which Lambert’s original students came from in 2009.

“It actually came from the South, which I don’t know where it came from over there… I’ll never forget the poor freshmen, every year, that the seniors would sell the freshmen pool passes… and they all believed it,” Dr. Gary Davison, retired Lambert principal said in an interview from May 2023.

Realistically, the concept of building and maintaining a pool on campus would be expensive and unnecessary.

According to Director Ferrer, all Forsyth county high schools are built with consistency in mind, and it would be unfair if one school had such a large advantage over another. In addition, most of Forsyth County’s swim teams, including Lambert’s, swim at the Cumming Aquatic Center, relinquishing the need for separate pools.

“I think the upkeep of having a pool at a high school is probably so much effort, and I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t be tough to have a pool,” Ferrer added.

Furthermore, Lambert’s roof is already cascaded by various pipes and vents, and there is no guardrail on the edge of the building.

The proposition of a pool has mystified students since before Lambert opened. While it may be untrue, the long standing rumor still attracts attention to this day.
