Almost everyone at Lambert has seen his photos; from the TVs in the hallways to The Lambert Post, the photography of Raúl Ramirez can be seen everywhere.

The Lambert junior, best known with his Instagram account @by.ram1rez, covers Lambert sports through photography and videography. In addition, his work is often featured on official Lambert accounts such as Lambert Basketball and Lambert Football

While his work might not seem like it, Ramirez only started in 2023 after receiving a camera as a birthday gift. Inspired by work on Instagram and other social media outlets, he began working with Coach Mattair, first shooting Lambert’s softball games before eventually moving to football games.

“It gives you a way to express yourself, but at the same time, go out and capture what’s actually happening on the field,” Ramirez said. “It [photography] just gives you a lot of flexibility in regards to how you express your pictures, but also what you’re actually doing on the field”

With an art such as photography, there’s always something new to learn. Ramirez hopes to expand his brand and content, in a way shifting how we consume media at Lambert by showing a game through a new lens.

“So hopefully I’m moving toward telling more of a story instead of just posting like a highlight reel,” Ramirez added.

In the future, Ramirez hopes to attend the University of Georgia, pursue sports media on a professional level, and eventually work with a professional sports team.

“I mean, it’s really fun. It’s what I love to do.”
