Walking down the 1500 hallway you may hear the snapping of cameras or the yelling of “CUT!” coming from classroom 1502. Dr. Hutchison is the new teacher and sponsor of this organized chaos at Lambert High School.

Dr. Hutchison first realized her love for teaching while reading the book “What Color is Your Parachute?” by Richard Nelson Bolles. The book is aimed at helping readers determine what profession they want to pursue through a series of questions. As Dr. Hutchison read the book she began to discover the art of teaching.

“All the signs pointed towards teaching and that was when I realized I should be teaching,” Hutchison said.

Dr. Hutchison worked tirelessly to get her masters in teaching and was rewarded with a job instructing students in North Carolina. Years later, she decided to move back to Georgia to teach as it was a better fit for her.

Working in Georgia, Dr. Hutchison became a teacher at West Hall High School where she was also the sponsor of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), a club aimed at preparing future leaders and entrepreneurs. She led an exceptionally strong DECA program and even took seven of her students to a DECA leadership conference in Washington, DC.

But after teaching marketing for so long Dr. Hutchison wanted a change in scenery.

“I just needed a change, I’ve been teaching marketing for 11 years now,” Hutchison said.

Now, Dr. Hutchison is taking an innovative approach to teaching the AVTF Pathway and has plans on revitalizing the previously popular morning show Lambert AM.

“I am going to build it [the pathway] from the ground up,” Hutchison said. “I want students to be a part of the growth process.”

Dr. Hutchison is also the sponsor for SkillsUSA, the CTSO club attached to her pathway, and has expressed interest in taking her students to national competitions, mirroring her work she has done with DECA in the past.

Since the beginning of her time at Lambert, Dr. Hutchison has felt at home in the school. Her intentions on building the AVTF Pathway from the ground up are highly anticipated and everyone can’t wait to see her future accomplishments.
