At Lambert High School, many students turn to the arts to express their emotions with remarkable depth and vibrancy. Whether it’s through painting, sculpting, singing or dancing, these creative pursuits serve as a unifying force that creates life-long friendships. Among the school’s vibrant artistic community, the newly established K-pop Dance Club is an ultimate testament to this philosophy.

Lambert’s K-pop Dance Club was first created with the aim of establishing a new community within the club scene at Lambert. This club was a warm welcome to many students who had similar interests, but no way to pursue them.

“Our goal is to create a community of K-pop listeners who have similar interests as ours and also to improve our dancer’s skills,” Co-Founder and Lambert junior Pearl Kim said.

During their meetings, the club focuses on creating workshops so members can learn and improve on specific choreography and skills. The officers are focusing on easier choreography for the time being as many people are inexperienced.

“For the newer members, we’ll do simpler ones [dances] like Super Shy,” Pearl Kim said.

As the members continue to improve their skills, the officers are planning to put on performances during various school events. They hope to take part in events such as homecoming and pep rallies.

All of the dances performed will also be uploaded onto the club’s various social media as a way to promote both the dances and specific members.

“We’ll be posting on social media like Youtube and Instagram for the whole school to see our process,” Co-Founder and Lambert junior Yuhan Shao said.

For many of the members, this club represents much more than just dancing but is a representation of Asian culture and heritage at Lambert.

“Because our school is so diverse, we want to show more Asian representation at traditionally American events like pep rallies,” Pearl Kim said.

The Lambert K-pop Dance club will continue to improve on their covers and express their love for K-pop through their dances. Be sure to check them out in upcoming performances and on their social media!
