Following their recent third-place finish at the Science Olympiad Regional at the University of North Georgia (UNG) in Gainesville, Lambert’s Science Olympiad Team is now looking forward to the state competition with determination and excitement. Science Olympiad is a rigorous non-profit organization, where students K-12 compete in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) topics. Through these competitions, members experience hands-on learning and building technical skills. As the Georgia Science Olympiad State Competition approaches on April 4, 2026, members are focused on showing off their Lambert pride through their teamwork, dedication and performance.
Something that stands out about the Science Olympiad team at Lambert is their strong sense of unity. Though the club can be challenging and time-consuming, many students feel the process is much more manageable. This is because they know they can lean on each other and receive feedback from more-experienced members. The veterans give tips to the newer members, like Sarah Jiang, a first-year sophomore member, who is eager to get involved.
“We all help each other calm down and support each other while we are working,” Jiang explained. “I think that was really memorable because you can just feel the encouragement.”
Aside from the team’s incredible teamwork, their hard work has also helped them advance to state. Beyond monthly meetings, the members dedicate extra time to prepare for their events. They often spend hours studying, building or doing problem sets, ensuring they are ready to perform their best during the competition day.
“[Members] showed up, and they showed up well,” Science Olympiad Co-Captain Amber Zhang said. “They were committing, they were studying, they were ready to win and that’s what they did.”
The Science Olympiad team is thriving more than ever as new members are bringing fresh confidence to the team. As they head to the state competition, their focus is on giving their best effort and performing well as a team, rather than solely winning and placing.
“Our goal for state is just to have everyone study and show up at their best,” Science Olympiad Co-Captain Shritan Suryadevara said.
With the upcoming Georgia Science Olympiad State Competition, the members are working hard to reach their best level. Both experienced members and newcomers are focused on giving their best effort and supporting each other along the way. Ultimately, the Science Olympiad team serves as a standout club at Lambert through their remarkable dedication and team work.
