Local rapper and musician Ishaan Chandran, who is a junior at Lambert High School, has always had an interest in music ever since he was ten years old. Throughout high school he began to take music more seriously, taking on the name Iced The Kid. He has continued to grow a fanbase centered on underground rap.
The dedication he has put in has been fueled by his motivation to become successful. However, unlike most modern musicians who chase a famous music career for money and a wealthy lifestyle, Chandran has different motives.
“I want my music to have an impact, but I also want to be known as someone,” Chandran explained.
Despite taking on music seriously just a year ago, Chandran has continued to stay motivated throughout the ups and downs, a rarity that has perked the interests of the student body and outsiders alike. He has gained his own unique voice through consistent beat selection and lyrical sense.
“My beats tend to be more ‘underground’ inspired,” Chandran explained. “I don’t think I’ll stop creating anytime soon.”
As of right now, the potential for Chandran to make it big is limitless. Despite the limitations of having to attend school, he continuously tries to make content that relates to his audience and promotes engagement on social media through promotional shorts.
Chandran faces challenges due to some in his audience having a difference in opinion on his music. However, making music for everyone to enjoy is difficult in itself. Therefore, Chandran has chosen to take on his own unique path towards becoming a successful musician.
Chandran’s instagram is @completely_iced, and he consistently releases music under Iced The Kid on his Spotify and SoundCloud. Make sure to follow him on all platforms, and go stream his most recent song “pourin up tha ice / ice in my veins,” as well as some of his other works. He is currently collaborating with artist Vnster “Von”(@vnsterr on Instagram), so be sure to look out for their collaboration.
