“Wicked: For Good” is coming out on Nov. 21, 2025, and students at Lambert are so excited. In the Movie Elphaba Thropp is the main antagonist of the story. She faces harsh discrimination from her peers because of her green skin and because of this Elphaba ends up making a lot of choices she regrets and earns her name of the Wicked Witch of the West. The people of Munchkinville and the Emerald City view her as a villain and should be avoided at all costs.
Wicked is Elphaba’s backstory before the Wizard of Oz where she is the antagonist. In Wicked, Elphaba is portrayed as a good person, who is forced to do bad things because of her trying to help everyone rather than herself.
While fans can relate to the characters very well, they are divided in thinking if Elphaba is truly evil or if she is just misunderstood. Including senior Sophia Caceres and sophomore Tyler Ingle. Carceres and Ingle are both in the Acting Troupe of Lambert and are very big fans of the Wicked franchise.
“Elphaba can be seen as a bad witch because when she could have stopped everything and just backed down from all of the stuff she was doing she didn’t and she kept going,” Caceres stated.
When Elphaba finds out the truth behind the Wizard, she ends up stealing the Wizard’s spellbook, The Grimery, and unleashing her evil powers at the end of the first movie. Carceres, like many others, believes that Elphaba had the option of apologizing to the Wizard or running away.
“She could have stopped all the violence and stopped all the things later in the movie,” Carceres explained.
Ingle supports another popular opinion that Elphaba is actually a good witch.
“She is very kind and loving to everyone and everything,” Ingle explained. “When she helped the animals in the woods with Frieryo she showed her kindness.”
Many fans think that her showing in this scene is vital for the preservation of her character and as a “good witch”.

Even though fans such as Ingle and Caceres, despite having differing opinions on Elphaba’s character, can both see traits that they embody through her. They both can see themselves being kind and independent like Elphaba in the movie.
“She’s very driven just like me,” Carceres stated.
In conclusion, fans are looking forward to the second part of Wicked coming out later this year to answer all of the questions that the brilliant cliffhanger left at the end of the first movie and to see what Elphaba’s future holds.
