The Lambert production of “My Fair Lady” is coming to the stage this spring. This will be Lambert’s fourth production of the year and will be one of the seniors last show. With this being one of their last shows in their high school career, they are going to give it their all. In fact many of these seniors have been a part of ATL (Acting Troupe of Lambert) in multiple facets, so they’re working hard to make this show a success.
Seniors Madeline Hansen and Melody Yang are important parts of preparing this amazing show. Yang is the head of the Tech Department and Hansen is one of the many stellar performers in the Troupe.
Hansen has been a part of ATL for her entire high school career and she is currently involved in the leadership of the troupe; she has worked her way up from being an officer to currently being Vice President of the Troupe this season. Hansen has always been involved in leadership roles ever since she worked as class leader in middle school chorus at South Middle school.
“Its really been able to help me get to know a lot of my peers in that class,” Hansen said.
Hansen’s leadership experience in ATL has helped her in other aspects in her life as well such as leadership within her church.
“It has really helped me run things especially if at church, if I had leadership callings as well,” Hansen explained.
Melody Yang has also worked in leadership positions throughout her years of high school, starting as a shadow for the head of tech in her freshman year all the way up to currently President of the Troupe.
Yang is aiming to pass onto the underclassmen that she is leaving behind in her senior year.
“I have a person that I’m mentoring, his name is Tyler Ingle, so I’m just hoping that I’ll pass it down to him,” Yang stated. “There’s a lot of practical things that they’ll have to learn, but they’ll be just fine.”
Like Hansen, Yang also believes that the leadership that she has done with ATL has helped her in other aspects of her life as well, such as the movie theater she works at.
“I think that I’m able to take a lot of those communication skills that I use with my work,” Yang explained. “I’m actually a team leader at the movie theater that I work at.”
Overall, Yang and Hensen have been able to learn many lessons throughout their time in ATL through being able to work within their leadership team. They have been able to learn how to work with different types of people and create long lasting relationships with them. It has also forced them to strengthen their communication skills and learn the purpose of working in leadership roles.
“I feel like bringing in a leadership position just allows you to be able to truly love people,” Hansen explained.
Yang feels the same as Hansen and is grateful to have learned how to handle the power that she holds as President of the Troupe correctly, especially since the Troupe as a whole is so large in number.
“I have to learn how to be proud of everything that I do because no matter what I’ve worked hard on, I think everyone else worked hard on it as well and I have to give them credit as well,” Yang explained.
With a hard goodbye, Hansen and Yang are getting ready to say goodbye to their time with ATL but are excited to make the most of their last year.
