Lambert’s chorus is in full swing this semester, giving students a wide range of musical opportunities and experiences. From lively rehearsals and upcoming concerts to special performances and trips, chorus students are making the most of every opportunity to grow, perform and connect through each song. This group proves that creativity and teamwork are at the heart of every performance.
Emma Unsworth, a sophomore at Lambert, has been involved in chorus since middle school. Continuing her passion in high school has allowed for her talent to grow.
“Through chorus I’ve been able to better my understanding of music with sight reading, music theory and a lot more,” Unsworth explained. “I get to be with my friends and learn how to better my voice every day.”
Unsworth thanks Mr. Wason for providing the chorus program with guidance and patience. Mr. Wason has led chorus for 21 years. He continues to help students push themselves to their greatest potential.
“Mr. Wason is a very encouraging and helpful teacher,” Unsworth stated. “He is so consistent and helps us reach our peak performance.”
The chorus program features multiple levels — Concert Chorus, Chorale and Men’s Chorus — offering students opportunities to challenge themselves and refine their musical skills. Students who are ready to elevate their vocal skills are encouraged to join the Chorale, a group admired for its rich harmonies and commitment to excellence.
Lambert sophomore Laney Strickland is involved in the Chorale and shows her dedication with every performance. She loves the advanced level of the class and because it challenges her to improve, while still allowing her to enjoy performing with others who are just as passionate about music.
“So far we have had our fall concert and we performed all five movements of She Sang the Stars at Georgia American Choral Directors Association,” Strickland explained. “ACDA is the state conference for choral directors at Kennesaw State University.”
After a successful fall concert in September, the chorus is now preparing for its winter concert scheduled for December 11, 2025. In addition to these performances, chorus members participate in singing the national anthem at Lambert’s games, a tradition that brings spirit and unity to the community. For home football games, students meet on the field to perform and represent Lambert before the game begins.
Several talented singers are set to represent Lambert at the GMEA District 9 Honor Chorus, performing on November 13th and 14th at the FoCAL Center. The event brings together middle and high school students from across North Georgia to sing in six different ensembles. Their dedication and hard work have paid off, earning them a spot among some of the best young vocalists in the region.
Meanwhile, All State Chorus auditions are underway, with students practicing and performing in front of their peers. These moments present not only their musical talent but also their courage and determination as singers to push toward their highest potential.
This program’s ongoing success reflects the hard work and passion of every student involved. Chorus is a place of community built on friendship, growth and a shared love for music. Each rehearsal brings new challenges and accomplishments from mastering harmonies to building confidence on stage. As the semester progresses, there is no doubt that Lambert’s Chorus will continue to inspire both performers and audiences. With their voices united in harmony, this talented group of students is setting the stage for an unforgettable year of music, memories and lasting impacts.
