This year Coachella is back and better than ever after their two year hiatus. The line up is getting Lambert Longhorns excited with many of the student body favorites headlining.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has ruined a lot of things and Coachella was not safe from this with every festival since 2020 being canceled. There are safety procedures implemented including proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.

The lineup for Coachella is looking very good with big names like Billie Eilish, Ye and Harry Styles. Dana Agha, a Senior at Lambert, is very excited for her favorite stars to perform.

“The lineup looks diverse,” Agha exclaimed. “I think it’s cool that the headliners this year all have a completely different sound from one another.”

However, with tickets being priced at a minimum of $542, not many people will get the opportunity to go. This festival panders to influencers by giving them free tickets, but completely ignores everyday people and outrageously prices the tickets.

Along with expensive tickets, many people have concerns about going to a big festival because of the disaster that was Astroworld. The festival was hosted by Travis Scott back in November and many people were severely injured and even lost their lives. While Coachella will definitely have more security than Astroworld did, most people aren’t sure if it’s safe.

Junior Samantha Nyazema, wrote an article about the deadly Astroworld which can be found here. She gives her insight on if people should be concerned.

“Coachella is definitely going to be safer,” Nyazema explained. “Astroworld is an example of what will happen if they don’t take safety precautions.”

If you do end up going to Coachella, be safe and have fun!
