The Freshman Boys Basketball Season just wrapped up for this 2025-2026 school year. The team went undefeated in their regular season and ultimately lost to Dacula High School in their last tournament game after playing 17 schools in total. Coach Jackson, the head coach of the freshman boys basketball team and assistant coach for Varsity, helped lead the team to victory.
Coach Jackson has been a coach for 8 years at Lambert, so he has coached the boys on this year’s team since they were in middle school and feeder teams for Lambert. He has been able to see the chemistry grow within the team and believes that this is one of the major factors that was able to help the team throughout their season.
“They are a very close group and they support each other,” Jackson stated. “So I think the team, really the program’s, chemistry plays a huge part.”
This chemistry has helped the team face many trials throughout the season. One of the first big challenges was when the team went against North Forsyth High School on Dec. 5, 2026.
“They were a really good opponent and we were actually put in a position that we weren’t used to as far as playing from behind,” Jackson explained. “I think it was really cool because we had some really good fans which I think was a key part to us winning that game by having a good support system.”
Though there were many challenges that the team had to overcome, there were many highlights as well, such as their first win of the season.
“Of course, you know, the first game and first win always stand out with our win against Buford,” Jackson said. “Also, the first road game is always very difficult, so dominating those games is always great.”
Coach Jackson hopes to be able to keep the winning streak going into years to come, so the coaches are already getting prepared for the upcoming freshmen for the next season. Teams at South Forsyth Middle School and Riverwatch Middle School are already looking very promising, so the coaches want to start having the athletes work more together and then to ensure a dominating team and season next year.
“We’ll get a chance to start working with them in the summertime and start working with them on things like skill development, getting them in the gym together to start building up that team chemistry early on,” Jackson explained.
The coaches are challenging the athletes on the middle school feeder teams and putting them against kids that are bigger than them to get them ready to try to make the ninth grade team. In the past, this has helped athletes to make the current freshman team and further get them ready to make other teams such as Junior Varsity or Varsity.
All in all, the Lambert Freshman Boy Basketball team has had an amazing season, and Jackson worked hard to get them there. He is excited for the next year to work with the rising ninth grade players and is so proud of this season’s accomplishments.
