Lambert High School began their 2020-2021 basketball season last week. Collecting multiple wins across both the Boys and Girls programs, the Longhorns appear poised for another successful season.

On Friday, November 20, the Varsity lady longhorns visited North Gwinnett — winning a nail-biter 46-45. Sophomore Briley Elder led the Longhorns with twenty-four points, while senior Lauren Houstan chipped in ten. The following day the Varsity Girls played the Centennial Knights, notching another victory 48-41. Elder again led with 25 points, while team captain Taylor Parrish scored ten. Most recently, the Lady Longhorns played on the road against Brookwood High School on Tuesday, November 24, losing 75-50 to the strong broncos. The Varsity Girls’ team will visit Mill Creek tonight at 6:00 pm.

Lambert’s Varsity Boys opened their season against Centennial on November 21, falling short 61-57 due to the Knights’ athletic and ferocious defense. Last week at the Jared Cook Classic, the Longhorns lost to Archer High School, one of the top teams in the state, 80-62. The Varsity boys’ will play Mill Creek in the second game of a double-header tonight at 7:30 pm.

Both JV teams have started their seasons off with wins. The girls beat Centennial 42-18, while the boys dominated 79-34. Sophomore Angeline Duda led the girls’ team with eight points and sophomore Bryce Bracco led the boys with 12. Both teams will play their next game Friday afternoon. The girls will host rival South Forsyth, while the boys will play on the road against the War Eagles.
