Coming off of two straight Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state championship wins, Lambert Competition Cheer is ready for their 2024 season. Their first competition is September 28 in their new Coeducational (COED) division. Head Coach Sammi Spera is excited for the upcoming season and has been working hard with her athletes to set them up for another successful year.
“We are starting to see consistency in our routines and will be ready to perform by September 28,” Spera said.
The team is ready to show off their hard work during their first competition this season. Lambert is now competing in the COED division but their competition is still difficult with schools such as Denmark, South Forsyth, Central Forsyth and Walton High School as strong competitors. Spera keeps her team motivated throughout the season with team bonding and meditation practices.
“We do meditation to stay level headed as a team and as an individual,” Spera explained.
The team is working hard behind the scenes while preparing for this upcoming season with frequent workouts and meditation practices to keep in shape, form team dynamics and connect as a team.
“We aren’t building structures but we are seeing how we can work together,” Spera said. “Summer is really just figuring stuff out and finding out who works best together.”
Coach Spera has team bonding activities planned for her team such as team dinners and sleepovers, but the girls also bond on their own outside of practice. Building this tight bond helps their performance on the mat since it improves their teamwork.
“Going to practice is like team bonding,” Spera stated. “Once the season starts we spend so much time together it is our team bonding.”
With all their hard work, Lambert Competition Cheer is ready to take the mat and is excited to compete for another GHSA state championship. Lambert is ready for them to show off their routine for the first time this season on September 28 at Buford High School. They are ready to kick off an amazing season and Lambert is cheering them on as they move ahead.
