With volleyball season kicking off, Lambert’s volleyball team is making it their mission to have their best season yet. Last year, the team made Lambert history, fighting to the state championship. Senior defensive specialist, Avery Mallas, is making the most of her last year playing with her teammates on the Lambert court.

“I just want to have fun with my friends and win some games,” Mallas explained. “Win or lose, at least we did it together.”

Mallas prefers the Lambert Volleyball team over other clubs or academies that she’s played at because of the close-knit community it offers for players.

“I’ve been playing since I was 12, and moved around many clubs,” Mallas said. “Playing for Lambert has always been the most fun experience.”

A new addition to the varsity team is sophomore Julia Rho who is trying for her best season yet this year.

“I really want to win regionals with my team, and I see our team as one of the best out there,” Rho shared.

She is optimistic about the season and wants to do everything in her power to help her team win Regionals. Rho believes that teamwork is the golden rule when it comes to success on the court. She claims that collaboration is a crucial part of volleyball and everyone working together is what makes the magic happen.

“My personal mission for this year is to work better with my teammates,” Rho said.

The Lambert Volleyball team also welcomes a new coach this season, Stephen Pate.

“I would say our main goal is to limit points for our opponents, and the best way to achieve that is just being comfortable and confident on the court,” Head Coach Pate explained. “Weekly goal setting and scoring on serves is also something we want to work on.”

The team is giving it their all to be victorious this year and Longhorn support is what helps to push them forward.

“Student support is really important for us as it is with any sport, so the more people we can get cheering us on, the more we can succeed,” Pate said.

Lambert’s Volleyball team is ready to reach into the future, and with a new coach and determined players, they are ready to continue the Lambert Legacy.
