Olivia Rodrigo is a seventeen-year-old, American singer and actress. She is known for her various roles on Disney channel.

After being involved with her former boyfriend, Joshua Bassett, she wrote a song about him and the new girl he began seeing.

The song is known as “Drivers License” and was released on January 8th, 2021. It has become the lead single from her upcoming debut.

Shortly after the song was written, it had reached the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The song stayed at the top for five consecutive weeks; this has only happened nine other times in history.

Rodrigo had grown up being a huge fan of Taylor Swift. After Olivia had posted on Instagram about her song being next to Taylor’s on Itunes, Swift had responded on her post speaking about how proud she was.

In an interview with NME, the artist speaks about all her feedback and attention she received after releasing the new hit.

I mean, that is just everything. All the recognition the song has got is beyond my wildest dreams” Olivia explained. “Taylor Swift – is my songwriting idol and I wouldn’t be half of the woman and a songwriter I am today without her.”

Rodrigo was shocked by the way she inspired others and well-known music artists. She was praised by many, one being Gwen Stefani.

The new hit was enjoyed by many teens including Lexi Bacik from Lambert High.
