Lambert’s Swim and Dive 2025-26 season has kicked off and is already making a splash. With increased dedication and strong team chemistry, the athletes are ready to represent Lambert with pride this season. Though the season is just beginning, the excitement of the athletes around the pool shows that the team is ready to make this one the best yet.
As the season begins, the team is focused on making sure they are both having fun and working hard. Competition is very intense within the Swim and Dive community, especially against schools like South Forsyth High School and West Forsyth High School. Lambert’s balance of competitiveness and support for teammates is what sets Lambert apart. When meets get hard, the athletes are able to lean on their teammates for motivation and encouragement.
“Swimming is an interesting sport because it’s both an individual and a team sport, so I definitely think that their support for each other is one of the best things,” Coach Scott Langley explained.
Swim and Dive, like other sports, requires a lot of mental strength. To keep athletes’ mentalities strong, the team follows structured routines, focuses on nutrition and most importantly learns how to reset after tough moments.
This sport is intense as it involves having to be focused under lots of pressure. While swimming, falling behind for just a second can cost swimmers the race, while in diving, athletes have to do precise movements in the air while staying relaxed.
“People don’t see the effort and work that goes into diving,” Diver Obichi Akumadu said. “It seems like an easy thing to do, but smacking on the water does not feel good…It’s a pretty hard mental sport.”
To build team chemistry, the team hosts pasta dinners, where they eat pasta and bond with their teammates. Strengthening these relationships allows the team to build connections with each other, creating trust and support that will help them through competitions.
This year, the Swim and Dive team has so much in store for them. The biggest challenge is expected to be in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where Lambert will compete against teams outside of Georgia. With many upcoming meets, the athletes will have a chance to get inspired by other experienced swimmers and divers from all over the country while creating fun memories as a team. These competitions are a great opportunity for personal and team growth, by helping build confidence, resilience and strength.
“The biggest thing is that when they are swimming they are putting their heart and soul into it and then when they show up to meets they do their best to support each other,” Langley emphasized.
With Lambert Swim and Dive’s strong team chemistry and hard work, they are ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. The sport involves a lot of physical strength, but beyond that, the mental side plays an even bigger role by helping maintain focus. Staying confident, focused and positive through every meet will help them perform their best this 2025-2026 season.
