Lambert Gymnastics has led a highly accomplished season, with multiple gymnasts placing in the Top 10 in multiple meets and ending their season with a first-place win from their county meet at The Lovett School. Assistant Coach Christina Wardrip is immensely proud of the girls and what they have achieved this year, including their incredible fortitude and ability to push through and finish the season strong. Wardrip believes that the team met one of the main goals they set at the start of the season, trying new things and believing in themselves.
“Just getting the girls to be more confident in their abilities, that was something that was important to me,” Wardrip said.
The coaches organize spirit nights and team bonding to make the team feel connected as a whole in an otherwise individual sport, but Wardrip feels that the girls built that bond with each other as gymnasts on their own.
“Even though it is an individual sport, it has warmed my heart so much to see how supportive they are of each other during every event,” Wardrip shared.
Throughout the years, the gymnasts have built close bonds with each other at practices, meets, and team bonding events, including going out for pedicures. Wardrip fondly looks back on these memories with the team and looks forward to more of these events in future seasons.
“I think seeing the girls perform for the first time was just amazing to me,” Wardrip said. “Seeing what they are capable of doing and the talent that they have is probably what I’ll take with me.”
Although the season is officially over, the school will send one freshman athlete, Jayla King, to the state preliminaries next week.
“She qualified for all-around which means that she’ll be doing all of the events,” Wardrip explained.
Lambert Gymnastics had an absolutely fantastic season this year, proudly representing Lambert at a plethora of tournaments around the county. They hope to reach even higher heights next year and Lambert wishes them luck for their next season in 2025.
