On Dec. 6, 2025, the Georgia Bulldogs won the Southern Eastern Conference (SEC) Championship against Alabama, 28-7. The win wasn’t just another trophy, but it was a spark that lit up fans across the country, and ultimately defined the start of a dynasty. UGA in the 2020s has won 2 National Championships, and are looking to add another. Additionally, the victory over Alabama has created a surge of excitement heading into the Sugar Bowl and National Championship.
For many fans, the win represented a defining moment in UGA’s season after getting knocked over by Alabama earlier in the year. Just last year, University of Georgia (UGA) barely won the SEC championship, winning 22-19 against the Texas Longhorns. Additionally, Alabama has always been on top of the SEC, winning multiple championships against UGA. Regardless, this victory defined a turning point in who the powerhouse is in College Football.
“The win against Alabama has sparked up the fans and has them really excited to see how well UGA will play in the Sugar Bowl,” junior Josh Thomas said.
Moreover, the excitement reached beyond Athens and Atlanta, as many Georgia fans expressed their emotions after the victory at Lambert High School.
“The win has definitely affected the students at Lambert,” Thomas shared. I saw some wearing Georgia stuff on Monday.”
Moving on, the actual game was a thriller, well, for UGA fans that is. However, the journey to this point wasn’t all sunshine are rainbows for the Dawgs. Earlier this year, UGA lost to Alabama 24-21, and it seemed as if Georgia wasn’t playing at its elite level that it’s known for. Nonetheless, UGA seemed to flip the switch in the SEC Championship.
“If you compare Georgia from the start of the season to now, you can tell they’ve definitely improved—especially on defense,” Thomas explained.
UGA has certainly taken a leap as the season has progressed. They have looked more prominent, offensively and defensively, week in and week out. What matters now is how they can capitalize on this win and motivation.
In essence, Georgia’s win over Alabama was an amazing win that places UGA as a champion contender, or possibly winner. UGA hopes to use this season to build upon their legacy as they will face tough competition in the weeks ahead, whether that be the Indiana Hoosiers or the Ohio State Buckeyes. Adding on, with Georgia bringing an exciting energy to Lambert, students will be thrilled to see them in the Championship, especially because many fans hope to attend UGA at some point as well. Adding on, Georgia has only continued to get better as the season has gone on, and it brings up an important question: How dominant will Georgia be when it matters most, that is, in the College Football Playoffs? In all, UGA has been the face of College Football, and only looks to add on their resume.
