On December 18, the Lambert High School football team released its much-anticipated schedule for the 2024 season. The lineup includes a series of challenging games against some of the top teams in the state, providing an informative overview of what fans and players can expect in the upcoming season.
The Longhorns will start their season with a scrimmage against Roswell on August 9. This preseason match will serve as a preparation for the regular season, which begins on August 16 against the 2021 Class 7A state champions, Mill Creek. This game is crucial for setting the tone for the rest of the season.
In Week 2, Lambert will travel to play Walton, a team that recently competed in the 7A state finals. The game, scheduled for August 23, is another non-region matchup that will test the Longhorns’ capabilities early in the season.
Following a week off, Lambert will play a home game against Cherokee on September 6. This match concludes the non-region portion of their schedule, featuring games against teams from the 6A classification, the GHSA’s new highest class.
Region 6-6A play commences with a game against West Forsyth on September 13. This will be followed by a Thursday night game on September 19 against North Forsyth. These matches are important for the Longhorns as they navigate through their regional commitments.
After an open date, the team will face two newcomers to the region, North Atlanta on October 4 and Alpharetta on October 11. These games are significant for Lambert in terms of their regional standing and overall season progress.
The regular season concludes with games against local rivals Forsyth Central, Denmark, and South Forsyth. These matches, scheduled in the final weeks of the season, have historically been competitive for Lambert, who has a strong track record against these teams in recent years.
