As the first official signing date for college recruits approaches (November 10th) several Lambert athletes have already committed to collegiate teams, and one of those commits is Taylor Nelson who has decided to attend Palm Beach Atlantic University to continue her volleyball career.

Without a doubt, Nelson has worked up an impressive individual record throughout her high school years in the sport, on top of being a part of the continually dominant Longhorn team. Nelson has been playing volleyball for as long as she can remember and grew up around a family with constant accomplishments in the sport. Her father played in the Air Force and many of her relatives played collegiately, so she decided that she wanted to pursue a collegiate career in the sport early on.

“When I was 9 years old, that is when I started playing club volleyball and I knew exactly what I wanted to do,” Nelson explained.

One of the most important parts of her search for a place to play volleyball collegiately was the support that she received from her coaches and family throughout her search. Nelson was drawn towards Palm Beach Atlantic for a couple of reasons including both the school’s disposition as a religious university and the proximity of the school to the family that she has in Florida.

Nelson’s reasons for picking the school as her college also entailed a lot of thought to be put into the coach and team at Palm Beach Atlantic.

“I definitely looked at the attitude of everyone on the team, kind of how they play together,” Nelson explained. “They were always very positive on the court, the coaches were super nice, super funny, and they really wanted me on their team.”

In comparison to some of the other colleges Nelson was considering to commit to, she found that Palm Beach Atlantic had a clear draw to both the school and the volleyball program that the other schools lacked.

One of the benefits of being committed that Nelson has found this season with Lambert is the ability to relax on the court. She explained that before she had committed there was a lot of added stress to playing because of the awareness that there may be college coaches watching and looking to recruit.

Nelson has found significant encouragement in her commitment this season and has been playing her heart out helping Lambert Volleyball capture yet another amazing season. On top of her outstanding performance with Lambert this season, she also has high expectations for her first season with Palm Beach Atlantic, as she spoke about will and drive to push herself to be the best on the court and do everything she can to play her best.

Without a doubt, she will have an amazing collegiate career and Palm Beach Atlantic has gained an excellent new player.
